REVIEW - Arsenal vs Man City at Emirates 25-8-07

So another new season begins and its time to back behind enemy lines and check a game out at the Emirates.

It was great day mainly because I hooked up with my pal Eli who i hadnt seen in time, he's a big Gooners fan and got a real rush from him first trip to the Emirates.

For those of you still yet to go to watch the Arsenal at their new pad, i have to say its an amazing day out.

An awesome stadium - just as a football ground should be.

Man city were the opponents and I expected a lot from them on the day. It was a pretty even match and with better finishing Man city could have grabbed all three points. They carved Arsenal apart on a few occasions but couldnt make their possession count for anything.

Kasper Schmeical in goal for city was awesome - he will be a top keeper - saving a penalty and generally having a good game.

Arsenal was also woeful in front of goal and it took a great finish from Fabregas - the best player on the pitch to settle the match with a blasted finish into the top corner that Schmeical had no chance with..

Both teams need a top striker this year to do well as both played some nice football but without a cutting edge.

The atmosphere was OK'ish but Arsenal fans - where are your voices?? - I must have heard three songs all day - u need to be loud to fill this enormous stadium. The city fans as allways were amazing - probably the best away fans in the league..

Attendance was again 60,000 - but c'mon - the empty seats jotted about arent fooling me......

So my first trip to the Emirates made even better by the sunny weather and great seats provided by my old school mate James. As for the game, I was starting to get worried at the host of missed chances (not to mention the penalty) but Cesc came good in the end.. Great stadium – nice seats, and fantastic facilities.. Though the atmosphere isn’t as good as it was in Highbury. Arsenal may have been written off for the Premiership but they could yet do it this year.. C’mon the Gunners !
