Now concert movies can be a bit hit and miss....... plenty of them out there - not too many stick in the memory (Woodstock stands out... can u think of that many other ones of note??)... Rock the Bells changes all that....
Unique in the way that it is filmed from the promoters perspective, Rock the Bells tells the story of LA concert promoter Chang Weisberg and his attempt to re unite the Wu tang clan and to host them at his Hip hop festival that shares the same name as the movie.
Its a warts and all tale of what it takes to put on a Hip Hop show of great magnitude, entertaining throughout it catalogues a series of events that unfold during the course of one fateful afternoon.
One of the biggest names in Hip Hop, The Wu Tang clan hadn't all played on the same stage in over 8 years. Chang sets off on a mission to reunite them and get them all on one bill. Does he manage it - i wont spoil it for you but trust me - its a roller coaster ride that you have to check out!
Spliced with excellent concert footage from the likes of Dilated Peoples, Sage Francis, Supernatural, Redman and Charli 2NA, comedy and genuinely scary concert footage has it all.
Summing up the chaotic nature of mixing Hip hop with any type of busines this is an unmissable experience - if u cant see it at an independant cinema near you then kop the dvd. unmissable!!
"WU TANG!"
