Kylie New Year's Eve

When I heard that Ms Kylie was adding a show on New Year's Eve it was immediately clear to me that this was the perfect activity for the night. We'd spent the Christmas holidays with lot's of family (11 to be exact) so we wanted something contained but couldn't stand staying at home. Sofia is 37 weeks pregnant so standing and dancing is not high on the list.

We got some great tickets from this new website called Seatwave, loaded up on sushi and sake and off we went.

We got into Wembley while Bjorn Again was halfway through their set and the seats were perfect (on the side, half way back, lower section), to be honest there are few bad seats in the arena - it is very intimate. Bjorn Again did their thing, dancing, grooving and a stage-show that resembles the original ABBA as much as their sound. When they hit Dancing Queen there was 'neary a bum touching plastic.

I was loading up on the Foster's (come on Fosters, I understand she's Aussie but it is such crap...) and waiting through the short break when the lights went out and the crowd quieted. Las Vegas stageshow transplanted to the North London Industrial Estate, wow! The lighting, the sets, the catwalks all were amazing and set the stage for our girl.

Kylie appeared in trademark plummage and sequence, pink of course. He voice was fantastic and the choriography amazing. I can't even remember the number of six-pack jokes that went through my head but she had some fit gents alongside her.

As the show progressed, I realised something was missing, I couldn't detect it at first but then it came to me...the crowd. New Year's Eve is a night where everyone stands around waiting for something to happen, and this crowd was no different. So while a few of us were cheering our lungs out because the show was great and the woman has earned it, the majoriy of the audience was half-aleep waiting for Godot.

I told myself that this was natural as the show was announced late and many who wanted to see Kylie had bought tickets already or made their NYE plans weeks or months in advance. But I had to admit I think she deserved more than the crowd gave here. Oh well, she's got another 12 nights in the UK to get it back. For my money, she was and is one of a kind fantastic
