So a new year and another trip behind enemy lines to visit the Emirates stadium to see the Gooners in their own back yard.
I made this trip because one of my best mates, Nicky is a die hard Charlton fan. I used to go to watch Charlton lots with Nicky when we were still in school and used to love those trips to Upton Park (they were groundless tenants at the time..) we could get there and back, get in and grab a hot dog, a Coke and a program for under a tenner.... the good old days......
I have allways followed Charlton ever since and thought I'd make the effort to support them in what was on paper a very tough away fixture.
It's allways a struggle to do anything the day after New years day and this was no different, I managed to down one beer but drew the line at that...
Charlton played mega defensive with one up front and until they lost a man for dragging down Van Persie, Henry scored from the ensuing penalty and it was over as a contest from then on in..
Arsenal played some unbelivable football and could have had 8 or 9 but in the end had to settle for a 4-0 win...
Highlight of the night was definately the "anti Alan Pardew" chants - I cant really print them here but I'm sure u can imagine the gist...
A dissapointing result for Charlton and Nicky but overall another enjoyable night at the Emirates...
I must begrudingly ask the question is there a nicer ground than the Emirates in the whole country right now?
